It all started with a Tweet.
Nataliya from Akira Photography recently tweeted a request on Twitter, for any brides willing to rock their frocks for a bridal shoot. I had only got married six months ago but I felt like such a princess in my dress on my big day that this seemed the perfect excuse to relive that feeling again! So I tweeted back with a resounding yes and the plans for the bridal shoot grew.
The venue for the shoot was always going to be key. Could we have hired a photo studio? I’m not sure it would have created the stylish and chic vision Nataliya had. Luckily I knew just the place that would. I had attended an open weekend at Dorton House, a Grade II listed Georgian building set in lushous green grounds in Seal Kent, and had simply fallen in love. Not only was it beautiful inside and out but it’s a venue with a heart. Term time, Dorton House is a school for the blind and the money they raise from hiring it for weddings, is put straight back into the RLSB charity. With it also having being used for drama adaptations previously, it seemed perfect. After I spoke with them they kindly agreed to allow us unrestricted access for the photos for the shoot and so the excitement built.
Nataliya arranged a brilliant hair and make up artist Rachel (honestly I went from shocking to stunning!) and a truly beautiful and unique floral bouquet from Enfleur. A gorgeously detailed fascinator named ‘Anita’ from Love Divine topped off the look making me feel ultra glam!
All that was left was for some tea and china which is where Anne stepped in from Violet and May Vintage. I knew of Anne as she has recently started her business and I knew her vintage tea and china would look amazing in the venue – it didn’t disappoint.
The day of the shoot started of beautifully but after hair and make up was finished it became a race against time to get the outdoor shots done before the rain came. I was chilly with goose bumps outside (and I’m sure I turned a shade of blue) but Nataliya photographed me in such a beautiful way that you would never have known – what a talent. Relaxed, friendly and focused on getting beautiful images, Nataliya was a pleasure to work with and I think will make many future couples very proud.
So here are the images from my Rock The Frock shoot, a day I will most certainly treasure.
